HEY, GOP - IT'S A FIGHT, AND WE NEED TO WIN IT

In the movie classic Rocky, there is a scene where the trainer for the champion Apollo Creed is watching TV news coverage of Rocky Balboa, impressively working out in a meat plant, landing powerful punches on large slabs of beef. The trainer tries to get Apollo to watch but Apollo is too busy enhancing his own image.

The night of the match, Apollo Creed is showboating.

Then comes the fight and Rocky is aggressively attacking.

Between rounds, exasperated, the trainer tells Apollo: He doesn't know it's a damn show, he thinks it's a damn fight!

The Republican hierarchy needs the same advice. It's a fight and, if we are to make America great again, we must win it. Here are five areas in which the GOP has to take the fight to the democrats.

THE SHOOTING

Last week, after ascertaining that the softball players practicing on the field were Republicans, the shooter opened up, firing 50 to 60 shots resulting in several people being hospitalized including a Congressman in critical condition and a Congressional aide.

Over the past decade, whenever a public person was attacked the mass media and the Democrats [forgive the redundancy] immediately attributed the violence to conservative “hate speech”, an allegation never supported.

When the perpetrator turned out to be a liberal democrat, the mass media not only did not apologize, they did not report the fact. The lie outlived the truth.

This time the record is clear. Since the 2016 campaign and its unacceptable [to the Left] result, we have seen and heard unprecedented calls for violence, which calls have been answered. We have been treated to hateful speech, assassination scenarios, attacks on conservative speakers to prevent them from being heard, assaults, destruction of property and we have been instructed that all this is justified because conservatives deserve it!

Here are a few examples:

Kathy Griffin ‘Beheads’ Trump in Graphic Photo; Madonna: I’ve thought a lot about blowing up the White House; Snoop Dogg 'Shoots' Trump in the Head in Music Video; Joss Whedon tweeted that Trump CANNOT be allowed a term in office [Emphasis in original]; Shakespeare in the Park Stabs ‘Trump’ to Death in Performance of ‘Julius Caesar’; Marilyn Manson Kills ‘Trump’ in Music Video; Stephen Colbert’s CBS show featured a segment that depicted Trump aide Stephen Miller being attacked in different scenes, included Miller being beaten by The Walking Dead‘s Negan and his spiked bat, and ended with the Trump aide’s head superimposed onto a spike in a parody of HBO’s Game of Thrones; Sarah Silverman suggested military could help overthrow Trump.

And here is a particularly vile statement from Comedy Central's Larry Wilmore Anyway, since we’re talking about bigotry, we have to mention Donald Trump. Sorry everyone, I don’t want to give him any more oxygen. That’s not a euphemism by the way; I mean it literally. Somebody get me the pillow they used to kill Scalia, and I’ll do it. I’ll do it!

The shooter here was quickly identified as a Sanders campaign volunteer who repeatedly wrote hateful things about Trump.

How did the GOP respond? I have been an admirer of Congressman Pete King and was astonished at his reaction. In an interview, he urged restraint on the rhetoric of BOTH SIDES.

The GOP just does not get it. It hasn’t been the rhetoric of both sides. It has been the Left’s despicable campaign of hate. The Left is never magnanimous. Ask George H. W. Bush who broke his campaign promise to agree to the Democrats' demand for a tax increase, expecting some reciprocity. Charlie Brown had more chance of Lucy letting him kick the football.

Instead, they used the broken promise to savage him and keep him from a second term.

HATE is a key part of the Left's agenda [Archive issues 20 and 28]. This shooting results from the Left’s deliberate, vicious campaign of lies, and that should have been made clear.

Yet we have pundits hailing the new "civility."

How naive can one be. Of course, the Democrats will embrace Congressman King's formulation because it saves their bacon. They welcome the theme; they love it that the GOP "admits" it is equally at fault.

What will it take to have the GOP to realize"it's a damn fight" which we need to win?

FROM RUSSIA WITH LIES

Unfortunately, unlike From Russia With Love, this story does not have a Sean Connery/James Bond super hero. There is , however, an abundance of vicious villains.

During the 2016 campaign, Clinton accused candidate Trump of being complicit with Russia's "hacking" documents from the Democratic National Committee. 2 points are overlooked: 1. we still don’t know who leaked the DNC emails; Julian Assange says he was responsible;

2.the "hacking" had nothing to do with changing vote totals or with fake news. The contents of the leaked emails were true: sabotaging Sanders, treating the press as their team, mocking Catholics. The only fraud revealed was that of the DNC to the voters

And while Hillary was Secretary of State, she helped a Russian uranium-mining company, Rosatom, execute a take-over of Uranium One which held uranium mining stakes stretching from Central Asia to the American West...making Rosatom one of the world’s largest uranium producers and bringing Mr. Putin closer to his goal of controlling much of the global uranium supply chain.

Uranium One's chairman used his family foundation to make donations totaling $2.35 million to the Clinton Foundation and ...shortly afterwards Bill Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank promoting Uranium One stock.

WHERE IS THE OUTCRY, THE INVESTIGATION, THE PROSECUTION???

The investigation of Trump and the Russians has been going on for almost a year and NOTHING.

But what has come from the investigation, much to the chagrin of the Left, is the revelation of the Obama administration's illegal UNMASKING of conversations of American citizens including members of the Trump team, conversations picked up as ancillary to NSA surveillance.

Just before Trump took office, Obama and Attorney General Lynch issued new rules relaxing

what the NSA was permitted to do with the information and allowing the NSA to release it to 16 other agencies and to foreign intelligence services.

An Obama operative, Susan Rice, who as UN Ambassador lied about Benghazi [Archive Issue 15], finally admitted to the unmasking.

Dennis Kucinich, a liberal Democrat with 16 years experience in tracking foreign policy, summed it up:

...somebody in the intelligence community is trying to up-end this president in order to pursue a policy direction that puts us in conflict with Russia. The question is, why? And who? And we need to find out.

We do need to find out and the GOP should start the real investigation including digging out the facts of the Clinton Foundation's profiting from Hillary's abuse of office, the illegal unmasking and leaking. The gifted Glen McCoy summed it up:

COMEY

I confess that, when Comey made his statement about the investigation into Hillary's illegal emails, I was pleased that finally she was getting some heat. However, I was appalled at what he did.

I served as a federal prosecutor for 6 years and worked closely with the FBI on many cases. I know what their procedures are. The FBI reports the result of its investigations to the Department of Justice. It does not make public those results until the DOJ decides to prosecute. Comey violated that procedure.

Then, he compounded his misconduct by telling the world there was no basis to prosecute Hillary under the pertinent statute because specific intent could not be proven. But the statute does not require specific intent; it is violated by gross negligence and there was ample evidence of that on Hillary's part.

At that early point, Comey destroyed any credibility he might have had. His varying statements since then have further established his unreliability.

SPECIAL COUNSEL MUELLER

The decision to employ Special Counsel is solely that of the DOJ. The process got off on the wrong foot when Attorney General Sessions decided to recuse himself, a move apparently taken in a vain hope of a public relations win. It was not necessary to do so. No liberal would have done so.

The decision then fell to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who decided on the special counsel procedure and chose Robert Mueller. The Democrats immediately praised Mueller as absolutely impartial.

That should have been a tip-off. When the Left says someone is impartial, it means that someone is one of theirs. Rosenstein apparently missed the fact that Mueller was a close friend of Comey whose Russia allegations launched the investigation.

With that connection exposed, Mueller should recuse himself.

Fat chance!

Now we learn that Mueller is loading the “investigation” team with lawyers who contributed substantial amounts to Hillary's campaign.

Nice, huh? No need to be a rocket scientist to know what we can expect from this "impartial" investigation. Yet the pundits tell us it would be serious mistake to fire Mueller.

No, it would be a serious mistake not to correct the earlier mistake.

Deputy AG Rosenstein should cite the friendship issue and the loaded selection of attorneys and reverse the appointment. FIRE Mueller and be done with it. Let the Left rant and rave. Better that than spend millions of tax dollars for a Stalinist type show trial.

A show trial is a public trial in which the judicial authorities have already determined the guilt of the defendant. The actual trial has as its only goal to present the accusation and the verdict to the public as an impressive example and as a warning to other would-be dissidents or transgressors. Show trials tend to be retributive rather than correctional justice and also conducted for propagandistic purposes.

Take whatever heat the Left can generate but stay on message. Keep working to fulfill campaign promises. Pass the key tax reforms, including reducing the corporate rate to one that will allow American companies to compete in world markets.

Enlist the help of courageous conservative Senators, like Afghanistan veteran Tom Cotton.

Last week, Cotton, in the Sessions hearing, pointed out that none of the Democrats on the committee had asked whether the president or any of his associates colluded with Russia to hack the DNC's emails and release them to the public:

Maybe it's because multiple Democrats on this committee have stated they have seen no evidence thus far after six months of our investigation and 11 months of an FBI investigation of any such collusion...

DESPICABLE SCHEME TO TAKE DOWN THE PRESIDENT

This is not the Democrat party of our fathers or grandfathers. These people are radicals, undeterred by truth, logic or decency. [Archive Issue 20] Traditional values are meaningless. Their Bible is the Alinsky Rules.

Sedition is the incitement of resistance to, or insurrection against, lawful authority.

Sedition is what we have been experiencing since November 8.

The Left did not like the election results and, since then, rioting has become the norm. [Archive Issue 28 contains details and pictures]. Rioters have assaulted people, heaved Molotov cocktails, thrown rocks at police, vandalized businesses, harassed the widows of honored military. A female Trump supporter was pepper-sprayed while giving an on-camera interview. A firebomb ignited a generator-powered spotlight. Conservatives have been prevented from speaking at public gatherings.

In 2008, despite the election of one of the least qualified candidates in American history, conservatives did not disrupt the government. How differently the Democrats have acted.

They have blamed the violence on the victim; according to them, the victims deserve the vicious treatment.

Val Demings, a Democrat congresswoman, deemed the Berkeley riots

"beautiful ": We have seen demonstrations.... Young people at Berkeley protesting against this unconstitutional order,...We encourage our young people to get involved–I thought it was a beautiful sight...

Schumer called the street actions terrific… Do some of them throw some brickbats and things? Sure, it doesn’t bother me. [Archive Issue 28]

They have the nerve to call themselves the Resistance . What a horrible distortion. The title the RESISTANCE was used in WWII to describe French civilians who, at the risk of their lives, fought facism. Here these people, cravenly misappropriating the term, are the Fascists.

CONCLUSION

We need to have the courage of our convictions. IT IS WAY PAST TIME FOR THE GOP TO REALIZE THIS IS "A DAMN FIGHT" AND, FOR OUR COUNTRY'S SAKE, WE HAD BETTER WIN IT.
